Acupuncture for sports injuries

Acupuncture for sports injuries

Friday 19th January 2018

Here at New Park Physiotherapy we have two clinicians who are trained in the use of Acupuncture. Traditional Chinese acupuncture forms the foundation of all clinicians training. However, we use a technique known as 'Trigger point' acupuncture for sports injuries. This style of acupuncture is used when patients present with painful 'spasms' in the muscle tissue. For example; a runner who keeps getting cramp in their calf would usually benefit from trigger point acupuncture. Evidence has shown that when an acupuncture needle is placed specifically into the 'knotted' muscle it has a dramatic change on the effected tissue. This can lead to instant relief and enable athletes to return to their sport immediately. If you are interested to see if this technique may help you please do not hesitate to give us a call.
